YMCA Fairthorne Group are looking to recruit a Early Years Practitioner based in Townhill, Southampton, With further hours available at our other childcare settings in Newtown, Weston and Woolston.
We are looking to recruit bank staff in the Southampton area. As our Early Years Practitioner you will:- provide a diverse range of experiences for children to learn through play;
work in, cooperation with other team members, to provide a caring supportive environment in which children can thrive;provide a high standard of customer service to children, parents and other stakeholders;act as a Key Worker for a group of individual children, working in partnership with parents, to support each key child’s development;keep key children’s development records up to date;ensure other nursery supporting paperwork is kept up to date, as directed by your line manager and the management team; report to the Room Leader, termly, each key child’s age and stage; report any concerns about a child’s development to the Senior Early Years Practitioner and or the nursery SENCO/BECO/INCO; work in compliance with the organisation’s childcare policies and procedures;follow YMCA Fairthorne Group’s safeguarding, child protection and safer working practice policies at all times, taking any concerns regarding health or/and wellbeing to your line manager or senior management; act in the interests of your own safety & the safety of others at all times; undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably requested by the management of the organisation; report to your line manager any potential risks to which the Charity is or may be exposed;positively promote the YMCA Way in everything that you do with children, parents and staff.
As our Early Years Practitioner you will have:-
Experience in working in a childcare setting.
An understanding of the developmental needs of children First aid qualification (or willingness to train).
Knowledge of health and safety and ability to complete risk assessments (or willingness to train).
Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding good practice (or willingness to train).

Be a qualified childcare practitioner at NVQ 2/3
2 years childcare experience
Some understanding of supporting English as an additional Language (EAL).
Speak any language other than English.
