Our Next Steps programme was developed to support young people leaving Local Authority foster or residential care or who have left care in an unplanned way, and who need extra support to achieve their potential and move forward in their life. The project’s primary function is to support young people from care into independent living.
The project is highly individualised, focusing on the key needs for each young person, and developing an action plan with them to address their needs. The focus for this particular group is emotional support, supporting the development of independent living skills and support networks. The key to the success of this service is the strength of the relationship built between the Key Worker and the young person, which is based on a genuine interest in the young person as an individual, and their success in all areas of their lives including emotional and social success.
