6600 Apprenticeship opportunities in the South

6,600 Apprenticeship opportunities in the South with City College Southampton

The government have now set an objective of having 6,600 apprenticeships in the Southampton and surrounding area over the next 3-4 years. These may be existing staff looking to upskill or new apprentices enabling a company to develop the apprentice to suit the business requirements.

With an excellent reputation for a quality experience for both the employer and the apprentice and success rates at 10% higher than the national average and in the top 5% of the country, City College Southampton is extremely well positioned to help achieve this goal with its large campus facilities and a wide range of apprenticeships and courses.

For the Education community there are two main sectors, these being - Early Years (Childcare) and Supported Teaching and Learning.

Early Years Child Care

Early Years Child Care Apprenticeships incorporate both intermediate (level 2) and Advanced (Level 3). These courses are for employers wanting to develop their staff and for individuals, of all ages, interested in a career or developing their existing skills in working with children and young people.

These apprenticeships are for people who work with children aged from birth to 16 years (and their families) in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development, e.g. child minder’s own home, crèches, community based services, day care, extended schools, hospitals, playgroups, pre-schools, primary care, schools and Sure Start programmes

Supported Teaching and Learning

City College offers the Diploma at level 3 (AA) Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools. This framework is for employed classroom assistants, who have been working in an education setting for less than two years, supporting pupils aged 4-16 years who are in year 1 or above (NOT reception year), or supporting students in a Further Education setting working at or up to Key Stage 4 and/or with special educational needs.
