Open Access Music Therapy Centre
A new music therapy service has opened in Southampton. Weekly sessions are available on a Wednesday. Either one-to-one, family or group sessions are offered to individuals referred, and these will be free of charge to attend. To make a referral please request a form from Alison alison.hughes@nordoff-robbins.org.uk or you can refer online here:https://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/make-a-referral/.
Music therapy can be accessed by children and adults of all ages. Therapists are trained to work in various fields including dementia care, learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, mental health, palliative care, social, behavioural and emotional needs.
We use music creatively to engage people in active music making and sessions are tailored to meet each individual’s needs. Sessions may include improvised music making, singing or playing instruments and all offer a social music-making experience. No previous musical experience is needed.
