Formerly Hampshire Deaf Association. We believe in working together with deaf and hearing people to create a world of equal access and opportunities. Our mission is to promote effective communication between deaf and hearing people, to promote the rights of deaf people to the same opportunities, the same access and the same independence as hearing people.

- Notes
Deaf people are often prevented, through lack of awareness of their needs, from taking part in activities that their hearing peers take for granted. Old and young people are particularly vulnerable, and at greatest risk of isolation through their deafness.
Our residential scheme and youth programmes help bring deaf people together in an atmosphere of mutual help and understanding. Our wider objectives are to: - Provide local deaf people with appropriate information to enable them to make informed choices - Encourage and respect the independence of the individual and their family - Recognise the value of linguistic and cultural pluralism in society - Accept deaf children as individuals, not impaired versions of hearing children - Empower deaf children, their families and deaf people. - Not allow the term 'disability' to undermine or hinder the growth of 'ability' - Support communication and understanding - Recognise in the Association's programmes that the needs of deaf people are often different - Create and maintain a range of services that meet the needs of the deaf community - Facilitate and support group activities and self-help.
