Short Breaks Practitioner – Southampton area (on-going)

KIDS, the disabled children and young people’s charity are looking for short break workers to join our friendly team throughout Southampton.
If you enjoy watching films, like to play, like to go visiting new places and are creative this job could be for you!

We work with children and young people from birth to the age of 25. KIDS Direct Short break means that disabled children and young people can enjoy and experience activities that they are interested in with the support of a skilled Short Break Worker (Personal Assistant). Parents can take a break confident that their child is benefitting from KIDS’ passion for inclusion.

The job may involve a visit to the child’s home, taking the child or young person out on short trips, some families may ask you to accompany them on family trips and outings to act as an extra pair of hands.

Our offices are in Fareham but our work will be out and about in the Southampton area, workers will have secure on-line accounts to use rather having to visit the office.

Hours worked – after school, evenings and weekends. Part time work – sessional work or 16 – 18 hour a week contracts
Qualifications required - You will have NVQ level 2 + in childcare or health and social care and have at least one year's experience of working with disabled children.
