Student Social Work Placements

Work based placements are provided in adult and children's services for students undertaking the social work degree, or a Masters in Social Work or Step to social work programme. Placements vary in length from seventy to one hundred days. First and Final Placements are offered and are compliant with Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social work at both Level 1 and Level 2.

Who should attend?

  • Students from Solent University
  • Students from Step-up to Social work regional programme
  • Consideration will be given to students from other universities subject to availability.

Additional information

Students are to produce any previous practice educators report.

Students have to have satisfactory DBS checks.

Learning outcomes

A learning agreement identifies student learning needs and how opportunities will be made available to meet those needs in the work placement.

Students will have an induction, ongoing support, supervision and gain good practice skills in social work to evidence HCPC Proficiencies in social work.
