Grants and funding

The Community Chest is a small grant scheme available for not-for-profit community/volunteer sector organisations, offering grants of between £100 and £2,500.

Inclusion Support Grant Fund:
Southampton City Council has allocated £100,000 for the financial year 2017-18 to an Inclusion Support grant fund. This fund is specifically to support the inclusion of 3 and 4 year-olds who are funded through Nursery Education Funding.
It’s for day nurseries, childminders, pre-schools, extended day pre-schools and out of school clubs who are Ofsted registered and who take Nursery Education Funding.
Through planning and organisation most children with additional needs will be able to fully join in with the activities you offer, as all providers are expected to plan for inclusion and make “reasonable adjustments” to accommodate the needs of the children. However, there may be times and circumstances when extra funding is needed. This funding does not replace EYSS or EHCP funding, and is not to offer 1:1 support. Please see the Inclusion Support Fund webpage for more details.

Tax advice for childminders
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) provide a free e-learning tool that advises on the tax and National Insurance issues involved in being a childminder.
Incorporated into the package are learning checks and videos as well as links to further advice on YouTube and the GOV.UK website. Start the tax advice for childminders tutorial.
