The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requires all practitioners to use observation and assessment skills to inform planning.  This course explores the skills you need for effective planning. It will spend time reviewing examples of different types and examples of planning, as well as looking and reflecting on our own planning.

Who should attend?

All EYFS practitioners, and Year R teachers.

Additional information

Delegates need to be working within the EYFS.

It may be beneficial to have attended Looking at Children’s Learning and Understanding Children’s Learning in advance of this course.

Delegates need to bring their own copy of:

Also bring examples of the planning they currently use in their setting.

Also, please bring a copy of the Southampton Learning Stories or your own version (paper or electronic) including the assessment data for this child. For example a highlighted sheet or a print out of ages and stages from electronic programmes - ideally a completed copy for one of your keyworker children. Please get parental permission in plenty of time or anonymise information.
