Many children with special needs or disabilities benefit greatly from further education, whether they remain in their school to attend the sixth form or move on to a college. Schools and colleges can offer various courses to suit the needs of young people with special needs and disabilities; these courses can build on their academic progress, as well as developing essential life skills and building confidence.
If a young person wishes to consider further education after they finish school then this should be discussed as part of the transition planning at their school.
